Baby It's Cold Outside

Took this at about 7am this morning and my porch is about 10 degrees warmer than the surface temperature in Montpelier.

Why do I live here again?  I don't ski or snowboard and I find this nose-hair-freezing-cold only marginally more enjoyable then swamp-ass inducing humidity of the summer.  It must be the cheese and micro-brews.

Anyway, this weather calls for a drink recipe because what the hell else are you going to do?

Warm Grog:
2oz Spiced Rum
4oz boiling water
Juice from half a lime
1 Tsp brown sugar
Orange slice for garnish
Splash of bitters

Combine all ingredients and drunkenly sing sea shanties.

Fun tangentially related fact:  Grogs were developed by the British Navy to counter both the drunkenness incurred by the customary rum-ration and the lack of palatable water.  When lime juice was added to improve the taste it had the added benefit of preventing scurvy and over the years, the term "limey" was coined to describe the British.

Keep warm.
